About

This website is dedicated to history, both of America and the world in general, with a slight twist.  These histories go bump in the night.  Ghost tales and paranormal experiences are fun around the campfire, but to get to the heart of true hauntings, one must know the history.  It is the history that gives the spirits life.

The show launched October 1st, 2014 as an outgrowth of the website.  Every show features a "Moment In Oddity," "This Month in History" and then interviews and discussions about a historic location, event or person and the hauntings associated with the subject of the particular show.  The tagline for the show is "Ghost tours for the theater of the mind" and that is the goal of the podcast:  to take listeners on a virtual tour of a place they may never have the chance to visit and to entertain while possibly sharing something listeners may not have heard before.

Diane Student is the founder of the History Goes Bump In The Night blog and creator, producer, researcher, editor, writer and host of the podcast, History Goes Bump. She formerly hosted The Freedom's Wings Show for three years. She has been involved with Internet broadcasting since 2009. Diane also is a writer of fiction and nonfiction, a taphophile, steampunk enthusiast, collector of the odd, lover of old Hollywood and classic monsters and all around "weird kid." She loves architecture and history and delving into the darkness to see what is there, having enough strange experiences that she leans more towards open-minded than skeptic.

Kelly Rang joined as co-host of the History Goes Bump Podcast in 2019. She is a taphophile, gardener and enjoys paranormal investigation. For years she has been sensitive to the other side and seems to draw spirits to her, but has never explored that side of herself until recently. She has a great sense of humor and is an all around "weird kid" too.
